Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, an incision is made on the inside or back of the arm. Excess fat tissue and skin are removed and the remaining skin is sewn tautly to the lower part of the arm. The surgery takes between 1-3 hours.
Patients usually stay in hospital for 1-2 days after arm lift surgery. A bandage or compression garment is used for several weeks after surgery to restrict movement of the arm and reduce swelling. Medications are prescribed to control pain and inflammation. Full recovery takes 6-8 weeks.
