Surgical operations, the details of which we will explain in the article below, have an important place in dentistry treatment planning.
Tooth extraction: In cases where the tooth cannot be treated in any way due to severe decay or trauma following excessive damage to the dental tissues, the tooth in question is extracted by taking the patient's health into consideration. However, in some cases, tooth extraction may be necessary due to reasons such as fractures and orthodontic treatments. No pain is felt due to the anesthesia applied during the tooth extraction procedure. Anesthesia applied may be inadequate due to some reasons such as excessive alcohol use. In such cases, the amount of anesthetic agent is increased. After the extraction procedure, sometimes there may not even be a need to use painkillers.
Sometimes, impacted teeth may need to be extracted as part of treatment planning (such as Orthodontics) and sometimes for dental reasons. Unlike normal tooth extractions, it should be done by expert hands as it requires intervention to the surrounding tissues.
Impacted Tooth Operations are the treatment method for wisdom teeth or teeth that remain buried in the jawbone due to other anomalies. Wisdom teethbecome genetically dysfunctional after a while. The human jaw structure also shrinks with age. In such cases, wisdom teeth cannot find a place within the jaw structure and since they cannot come out, they remain buried in the jawbone. The impacted wisdom teeth melt at the roots of the incisors in the upper front area or cause a visible disorder in the tooth row. If impacted teeth do not harm the mouth, teeth and jaw structure , they can be allowed to remain in the mouth. It is removed in cases where it damages the teeth. Shooting may be required in cases where there is a risk of becoming a focal point in inflammatory conditions. If your dentist's recommendation indicates that extraction is necessary, the procedure should be performed without delay.
If abscesses that form as a result of inflammation of the teeth are not treated, they may form cystic structures in the medium term. Abscesses should be drained with antibiotics or surgery as quickly as possible.
Cysts that appear in the mouth, teeth and jaw for various reasons can melt the jawbone in the process, causing both material loss and weakening of the jawbone. If these cysts are not treated, they can cause both aesthetic and functional disorders in the mouth, teeth and jaw structure and even jaw fractures. These types of harmful cysts diagnosed during examination can be completely treated with cyst operations.
Burkism, or teeth grinding, is the unconscious clenching of the teeth while sleeping or awake. This situation causes serious physical pain (migraine, headache, earache and facial pain) and medium-term strength problems in the teeth. In addition to night plaques, the treatment can be done by applying botox to the muscles that cause tightening problems. Relief occurs with the first application. The effect of the Botox procedure decreases after a while, as in its application in the cosmetic field. Permanent relief is achieved after 4-5 regular applications.
In acute cases, antibiotic use is necessary. After the inflammation subsides, the canal of the problematic tooth is cleaned and filling is performed.
